When I was approached by one of my fav event planners, Dian Philip of DSLAP Events, to assist on a Day of Coordination and was told that she could not reveal any of the details of the B&G just then and on top of that I may have to sign a confidentiality agreement, my interest was immediately peaked and I happily signed on to assist her to fulfill the wedding day wishes of her mystery client!

It was obvious from the get go that privacy was of utmost importance and what was also very clear was that this bride was very specific about what she wanted her day to be like and was very involved in all the planning and selection of her vendors. At the onset of my involvement, I was very excited to learn that I would have an opportunity to work with Atlantis Pavilion in Toronto as both ceremony and reception venue. The ceremony was to be outside on the roof and the reception to be in the Ambassador Ballroom on the main floor.

As Dian and I discussed the details of the day and she revealed details of the set up and vendors, I realized that not only would this wedding rock, it would be filled with personality and fun!

I met Spiria Fearon (Producer of Rich Bride, Poor Bride) and her fiancé Terrance Henry two days before her wedding at the rehearsal. I had never seen a more poised, calm and totally in control bride two days before her wedding! She oozed charm and grace but still had an iron hand when necessary to break up all the excited chatter and get everyone focused on the rehearsal! This was a woman after my own heart! I just loved her on spot! (Hence all the exclamations!!).  She incorporated sweet and sentimental touches and her gifts to her guest were thoughtful and beautifully done.

The bride’s bouquet incorporated a treasured locket which had a picture of a loved one who passed.

We walked through the day as she envisioned it and tweaked where necessary. We discussed our weather option as it was supposed to be very cold on the wedding day. Satisfied that everything was in place, they left for the rehearsal dinner and I went off to deal with all the details and checklists for the wedding.

The wedding day dawned to a brilliant sunny day but bitterly cold. All the vendors went into action pulling together our weather option and moved the ceremony inside. We now had to split the reception room into two parts, curtain off an area for the ceremony set up while utilizing the rest of the room to begin the set up for the reception. We would have an hour and a half to flip the room after the ceremony! Yikes! Cocktails were set upstairs with a view of downtown Toronto and the waterfront and as the guest went off to enjoy the delectable delights provided, the vendors worked feverishly to reset the room for the reception.

Everything went without a hitch and we were finished in record time. The grand entrance went with fanfare and dancing and the reception was underway. Speeches were heartfelt and sometimes funny which left our bride in tears a time or two. It was a beautiful wedding on the water.
